The Story Behind

Grow Your Teen

Hi, I’m Kathleen, parenting coach, therapist and founder of Grow Your Teen. I’m also the proud mom of two delightful young adults who, during their teenage years, were not always quite so delightful.

It felt a little sketchy at times during those years --me, wanting to pull my hair out; them, not wanting to be seen with me in public; me, certain they would live forever as slobs in ant-infested apartments because, ‘Seriously, why can’t you just clear the dirty dishes out of your room?’

In the end, happy to report, we emerged with loving and connected adult-to-adult relationships.

Today, I can see that my kids, as well as my parent and teen therapy clients, taught me some challenging lessons about where I still needed to grow. Thanks, kids!

Those lessons inspired me to found Grow Your Teen with the mission of empowering parents to grow themselves, trusting that as they do, their teens are more likely to grow too.

If any of this resonates with you, book a free consultation today. I’d love to hear your story and chat about whether one of my coaching programs might work for you.

When I am not busy coaching, writing or speaking, I enjoy golfing, playing pickleball, hiking throughout Oregon, swimming in lakes, and engaging in my two book clubs, while also never turning down a fun game of Scrabble!

Meet Claire, my 22-year-old daughter and occasional sidekick at Grow Your Teen. She still remembers what it was like to be “that age” and, trust me, she is wise beyond her years. When she shows up – on my podcast, in reels or blogs—you want to listen, really.

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom.”

- Viktor Frankl
